Suddenly Mashups. Everywhere. XXIV

July 15, 2011

Happy Friday folks! I’m on the road today so here’s the first installment of pre-written posts. Since I didn’t have as much time as usual you only get four songs instead of the usual seven. But they’re all quality. It’s a day for mashups, so mashups you shall have.

First off, here’s a sweet track that Mashup-Germany put together. He’s never made a purely instrumental track before. I’d say he succeeded quite admirably. The saxophone really gets rid of any need for vocals. It wails harder than most vocalists. I found this a novelty as well as pleasant track to listen to. Check it out.

Saxophomental – Mashup-Germany / Or from Mediafire

Cecil Otter and Swiss Andy have put together a great concept project entitled Wugazi. The Wu Tang Clan meets Fugazi’s instrumental album. Many rejoice. This track, for instance, fits together into a smooth union that you cant help but bob your head to. I first spotted this over on Pigeons and Planes. Listen to this.

Sweet Release – Wugazi / Or from Mediafire

Honestly, since I don’t know the original Britney song, and don’t feel like taking the time to listen to it, I couldn’t tell you is this wasn’t just a Britney song featuring Eric Saade. But I trust Earmilk, and Robin Skouteris if they tell me that this is a mashup. It’s one of those mashups that makes you realize how similar pop is. Sharing melodic hooks makes this mashup an easy mix. Listen for yourself.

I Wanna Go & Be Popular (Britney Spears Vs Eric Saade) – Robin Skouteris / Or from Mediafire

Kap Slap‘s new album is filled with primo mashups. This one might be favorite. I love Miike Snow’s “Silvia” and that’s a great start. Using one of the best drops from that song, Kap Slap works Britney’s hook into Swizz Beat’s and then juxtaposes “Till the World Ends” with “ Save the World”. Clever. And enjoyable. Try it out.

Suddenly Mashups. Everywhere. XV

April 30, 2011

Happy Friday everyone! I’m writing this on my new computer. Well… It was. And I was… Ok it’s still Friday in California, so it’s cool. And it takes forever to transfer all my music to a new computer and get it running in a new iTunes install. Bleh. Anyways after much fun and silliness my friends decided I should make a Ridiculous Mashup playlist. It’s large. And ridiculous. And hilarious. Some of the songs have practically no musical merit other than being a hilarious idea, whereas some are not as hilarious and idea but good enough to be included. While a some of these songs have been posted before, more than two thirds of them I’ve never posted before. I hope the quantity, not to mention the hilarity, of these mashups make up for its tardiness. Enjoy!

Here is a link to the entire playlist in a zip folder.

Run This Town – Oh My

April 25, 2011

I’ve been meaning to post this forever. Saw it on Pigeons and Planes and it’s grown on me since. It starts off kind of annoying and simple, but turns into something quirky, cute, and enjoyable. The vocals are very repetitive and come in different stages of musical-ity. I love the stark contrasts in this track. Oh and in case you were worrying this is not a Jay-Z cover, it’s new. Oh My is a new girl band. I hope they keep the pop punk feel, it’s enjoyable. Check it out.

Suddenly Mashups. Everywhere. XIII

April 15, 2011

Well it’s the the thirteenth week I’ve done this. Does that make this Friday the Thirteenth? Probably not but it sure is fun! Happy Friday all, and let me be the first to personally welcome you to the weekend!

So you may have spotted this earlier this week, but the White Panda dropped three full tracks and, let me tell you, they are good. I’m dishing them out piecemeal but you can grab them earlier for yourself here. This satisfies every bone in my techno smooth synth body. I’m not sure how much that means. But it is so slick. Such great background for this used and possibly overused rap. Enjoy!

I’d Rather Save Heart – The White Panda / Or from Mediafire

I was kind of convinced that I already posted this but numerous searches seem to have proved me wrong. Anyways, the Hood Internet nailed this one. Cold. They turned Crystal Castles into a killer beat and put Rihanna on top, where she likes to be. This track is probably my favorite version of “Rude Boy”. The others are just too slow. Enjoy!

Rude Baptism – the Hood Internet / Or from Mediafire

Here’s one I hadn’t heard before! I found it over at Mashup Town. Enjoyable. Pop filled. And it has a very fun time putting the progression of “Time of My Life” into it’s modern version [Fast Foot vs. Black Eyed Peas vs. Bill Medley vs. Usher feat. Will.I.Am]. Very fun. Check it out.

The Time For Nasty Girls – Jimmy Klok / Or from HulkShare

From the same post I found this lovely chill mashup. Now we all know what the most used song is in mashup history right? “Wonderwall” by Oasis. The chord progression that can go with just about any other song ever makes it so desired (see the Pachelbel Rant for more information). But this is just clever. It doesn’t use the chord progression. In fact it alters it and uses very different pieces of it. And combines it with Beastie Boys. Well done, sir. Well done.

Body Movin’ Wonder – Nerd Kinski / Or from Mediafire

And now for something completely different. DJ Schmolli is a dude. This is self evident. But he has certainly gone out on a limb with this one. Swing dance with Rage Against the Machine? Crazy right? Right. Crazy like a fox. This track takes some listening to, but it is gold. Listen to it the whole way through before judgment!

In The Mood For Some Killing – DJ Schmolli / Or from Mediafire

Here’s an old one. You can tell because it’s back when Datahowler was going by Objektiv One. I thought I’d continue the jazzy atmosphere with this one. It’s a jazz version of “Tik Tok”. And it’s perfect. Enjoy!

Tik Tok (Babebot Mash Up) (Ke$ha Vs. Breakbot) – Objektiv One / Or from Mediafire

And to finish off, I’d like to introduce you to my friend Greg Schram. He likes jazz, comedy, and long walks on the beach. He’s taken the classic “Roxanne” and worked it into a jazzy Jamiroquai song with a little bonus of Dido. This track is smooth, just the way I like my smoothness. I can’t wait to see where he will go. You?

Thank Talullah’s Red Light – Greg Schram / Or from Mediafire

Bass Down Low (Dubstep Minimix) – DJ Schmolli

March 13, 2011

Wow, I know right? Another post on the weekend? Crazy. DJ Schmolli commented on my post of his excellent industrial mashup EP and I visited his site and lo and behold, he had more music! Impressive seeing as he just put out the EP two weeks ago (and I think he put this out a week after). I love that mashup artists are doing dubstep now, it makes everything exciting! Enjoy a weekend March Mashup Madness mix, put together by the skilled DJ Schmolli. DJ Schmolli – Bass Down Low by djschmolli

Un4bomber – Industrial Society and Its Future – September Mix 2010

January 18, 2011

WARNING, listen to the first 17 seconds of this on low volume as it is put in for shock value. Getting ready for Pandamonium and Un4bomber is one of the top billed DJs. His work is hardcore. So metal. He combines metal, punk, industrial techno, and thrash to make an “electro mosh pit.” If that doesn’t sound appealing to you then it probably won’t be… But it is pumped up. If that’s something you like, check it out! Here’s his September Mix, mirrored but Soundcloud will probably be the quickest download.
