Never Be Alone – TheFatRat

May 28, 2016

TheFatRat - Never Be Alone

I realize it’s been a week since I’ve last posted, but I’ve been kept rather busy lately and probably will be for the next week or so. So here’s a song to tide you over for a bit. This is not the newest song from TheFatRat, but it’s an excellent track and well worth your attention. Starting out with a sweet chiming, this song introduces its tune quietly, almost shyly, before bursting into euphoric house chords to back it up. All shyness is abandoned as the beat drops and various “Woo!”s and “Hey!”s punctuate pauses. The shyness returns when the vocals arrive, sweet, honest, and a little unsteady, a child’s voice. They declare that “No. You’ll never be alone!” It’s a song brimming over with sweetness and earnestness. Enjoy it.

Close ft. Molly Ann – IZECOLD

May 20, 2016

IZECOLD

Starting out energetic but quiet, IZECOLD quickly gets this song bumping with the signature tenor synths of future house. This reassures the listener that this is a dance tune before the vocals are introduced and the beat drops briefly. Unlike many future house tunes, the instrumental hook of “Close” is in the treble section, while the future house synths are more of an accompaniment. It’s a good sound and a fun track.

Bone Crusher – Tha Trickaz

May 18, 2016

Tha Trickaz

I post a lot of chill trap. Here’s some trap that is definitely not chill. Tha Trickaz named this track “Bone Crusher” and from that you can rightly expect aggression and loud sound. It’s a trap track that draws more from aggressive and angry hip-hop instrumentals than from the electro tradition, but the electro is there. It sounds like someone made a hip-hop instrumental but wanted more distortion, more edge. The vocals are deep and rough and threaten, or perhaps promise, to crush your bones. If you’ve been looking for some powerful and slightly misanthropic music, this is the track for you.

Snowbound – Ahrix

May 16, 2016

Ahrix offers a chill song in several senses. Opening with the whisper of a cold wind, a drum roll ushers in swelling chords and a sweet treble line. Eventually the beat drops and it sounds old school; electro, trance, or techno rhythms and synths. The breakdown introduces strings before returning to the fast paced child-like joy. It’s a sweet and cheerful tune. Savor it.

So Bad (EDWYNN x TIKAL X Spirix Remix) – Brandon Skeie

May 13, 2016

Brandon Skeie

EDWYN X TIKAL and Spirix gave this emotional track a powerful new instrumental hook to match the drama of the vocals. Chopping up and sampling the word “you” adds weight to the longing in the song while the synths swell and the trap beat joins to add energy. Give it a listen and enjoy it!

The Only – Synchronice

May 9, 2016

Synchronice

Synchronice made this track awhile ago and I still love it. It starts out dreamy, fuzzy and quiet, before building a jazzy and hopeful hook. It has a dubstep rhythm without the other dubstep sounds, featuring instead a wailing synth that follows the example of a good treble electric guitar solo. The vocals are simple and fit the track well. The pauses in the song make the return of sound that much more satisfying. Give it a listen!

MYRNE (Photo by Jared Ryan Rezel of Colossal Photos)

MYRNE and AIRWAV built a beautiful instrumental track, full of beautiful chords, sweetly chopped vocal samples, and varied warm percussion. It’s a sweet song that builds dramatically before bursting forth in a happy swell. Enjoy it and have a lovely weekend.
