Where I Wanna Be ( James Carter & Levi Remix ) – A R I Z O N A

March 11, 2016

I think it’s time for something pretty and calm. James Carter and Levi deliver that with this deep house version of A R I Z O N A’s track “Where I Wanna Be.” Opening with hand claps and a simple house beat sets the stage for the song, but immediately drops out to introduce the understated beauty of the male vocals, that build in passion on the way to the hook. The instrumental hook matches that controlled energy, using a very staccato synth reminiscent of xylophones. Give it a listen.

BONUS: Once you’ve listened to the remix, you might wonder what the original sounds like. I know this is often my question, and it can shed light on how good the remix really is. A R I Z O N A‘s original track uses more typical pop house synths. It’s far less stark than the remix. I quite enjoy this version of the track as well, but I find the original to be a little more interesting, more special. Tell me what you think.
