Moondust (Sound Remedy Remix) – Jaymes YoungJanuary 20, 2014
This is the best Sound Remedy track I’ve heard in a while, and that’s saying something. Sound Remedy consistently puts out stellar tracks, so when I tell you that his remix of Jaymes Young is incredible and a step above his previous tracks, that means a lot. Sound Remedy is willing to try new sounds and we are rewarded by this track. With hints of trap in the opening beat, Sound Remedy shows respect to a fun sound without making it central to the song. The vocals and opening synths are much more central to the song’s start than the beat, which retreats to the background. Within a minute, Sound Remedy emphasizes this hierarchy further by dropping the beat entirely to highlight a triumphal moment in the song and to prepare for an amazing drop. The crowning synth line in this remix drops at 1:36 and it is very satisfying. Evoking the seesawing sound of a dubstep synth, this hook is higher pitched without being shrill, opting for an airy sound instead. This sound meshes seamlessly with a line of electric guitar sound. This is an incredible song. Enjoy the experience.
