Alice (Disney Remix) – Pogo

April 29, 2012

I know it’s been awhile since I posted last; I’ve been both very busy and I have not had much new music to post. However, a few days ago my friend sent me this song and I’ve been quite enjoying it ever since. I don’t know too much about Pogo (though I think he’s been featured on here before), but I quite enjoyed this chill song which uses nothing but samples from the Alice in Wonderland movie to create a really cool sounding track. You can download it off of his website by naming your own price (or for free). Check it out!

Suddenly Mashups. Everywhere. LIII

April 28, 2012

I was busy yesterday and I’m busy today. I have a friend visiting and there’s a rave tonight so I’m psyched. Yet I managed to finish this today, so go me! Mashup time!

Binary puts together a driving track that really comes together with the vocals. That’s when it becomes addicting. Check it out!

First Aid Vs Push & Rise (Binary Loves To Push First Aid Mash) – Binary / Or from SoundCloud

Here’s a simple track that Koyote put together for 4/20. Despite its simplicity, I love it. It’s super catchy and combines some awesome elements. Give it a listen.

Almost No Deputy (Koyote Bootleg) – TON!C vs Bob Marley / Or from SoundCloud

Here’s another joint off of Mashup-Germany‘s “Back to the Future” album. Still got that talent. Basically, he mashes up a mashup with more tracks. Sweet. Enjoy!

Numb Encore 2012 – Mashup-Germany / Or from SoundCloud

Been missing that Carly Rae Jepsen? Here’s another mashup of her put together by one of the masters of the art, Basic Physics. As you might expect the track is phenomenal. Check it out!

This Is Cray (Chrizz Luvly x Carly Rae Jepsen x Kanye West x Jessie J) – Basic Physics / Or from Basic Physic’s Facebook

Kap Slap put out another one! And man is it good. I must admit I have a soft spot for Taio Cruz, and Avicii too, so this really hits my sweet tooth. Give it a listen!

Avicii’s Epic Hangover (Kap Slap Bootleg) – Dada Life vs Hardwell ft. Taio Cruz / Or from SoundCloud

Onward! To a new track from Dotcom. Starting out quiet and insistent, this tracks builds into a very catchy whole, exploiting the lovely vocal hooks of several of the songs. Enjoy!

Last Vandalism (Porter Robinson x Knife Party x 12th Planet x Labrinth) – Dotcom / Or from SoundCloud

Sex Ray Vision (currently using this SoundCloud account) just put out a new mashup album called “Primary Colors” and oh man is it good. Here’s a sample track from it. Good right? Check it out!

Turn Up The Love [Swedish House Mafia, Alesso, Katy Perry, Avicii, Timbaland, Cobra Starship] – Sex Ray Vision / Or from SoundCloud

This simple A+B mashup by Kosher Kittens really caught me. Using a sample that sounds slightly regretful, Kittens showcases Skee-Lo’s lyrics. The emotions fit. It’s great. Give it a listen for your self!

I Wish, I Move. – Kosher Kittens / Or from SoundCloud

Yes I know I already posted one Mashup-Germany track in this post, but this one’s new! And awesome! I wasn’t a big fan of the Skrillex / Damian Marley collab until Ben Stilller got his hands in it. Now I love it. Enjoy and have an awesome weekend!

Somebody That I Used To Know (ENiGMA Dubz Mix) – Gotye

April 26, 2012

It’s Thursday so I thought it’s probably time to feed you all some dubstep. Unfortunately I don’t have time to do a full super post. Thankfully I’m busy having fun not doing work (a definite improvement). But this is a stellar song and I’m glad I get to share it with you all. Gotye just hit number one on the Billboard Top 100, so it’s appropriate that ENiGMA made such an epic remix of it. Starting out with a reggae guitar opening that fits flawlessly with Gotye’s chords, this track makes it clear off the bat that it’s going to be chill and use wobs a bit more subtly than its more bro-ish cousins. When the bass comes in, the track adds a very cool and resolute energy. Listen for yourself and enjoy!

Curtains Don’t Talk – Daedelus

April 25, 2012

I decided I was really in the mood for something lower key and electronic sounding today, so I started browsing dailybeatz as I often do and found this track. Daedelus put it together for Mixmag who provided it free to download, just how I like my music. The song is based around an almost ambient sample of “oooo”s and a nigh unintelligible set of vocals that are supposedly from the Beach Boys and Janet Jackson, respectively. I suppose that makes this a mashup but it’s so different sounding from either of those that I think it’s really transcended that genre. In addition to these chopped and retooled samples, a beat is added with bass edging toward wobs. It’s really nice. Check it out!

Set The World On Fire (Ted Nillson Radio Mix) – Hype Jones

April 23, 2012

Sorry about the lack of posts last week. Life’s been hectic and I’m afraid it may stay that way for the next few weeks. The end of the year does that. Oh well. Hype Jones has several remixes of this song up but Ted Nillson‘s is my favorite. I love the progressive house synths. I know some people don’t, but they’re so fun! Enjoy.

Return Of The Mack (Viceroy “Jet Life” Remix) – Mark Morrison

April 17, 2012

Well I’ve had a lot of work. I guess that’s what happens when you procrastinate. Here’s an awesome song. It’s a few weeks old, but I haven’t had time to look for more recent releases, and this one rocks. I’ve always enjoyed “Return of the Mack”, and now it’s back. Yeah, I said it. Viceroy‘s production is crisp, relaxed, and tropical. It inspires a summer mood. It’s really a sad sound but it’s so catchy that it’s hard to think about that for long. Enjoy!

Suddenly Mashups. Everywhere. LII

April 14, 2012

I have way too many awesome mashups to share to let a little thing like it not being Friday or having a ton of homework to do stop me. It may not be Friday but these mashups are just begging to be heard. Ready? Here they are!

First up, another favorite from Mashup-Germany‘s new album “Back to the Future“. This one uses the theme from the Ghostbusters and it is the best usage of that song I’ve ever heard before. This song is happy and funny and catchy. Check it out!

Learn to be alright – Mashup-Germany / Or from SoundCloud

A couple weeks ago I blogged 3lau‘s mashup, “Action”. DJ Foxfire liked the mashup so much, he decided to take a crack at and it sounds great. Foxfire delivers a six and a half minute version, so if you couldn’t get enough, now you can get even more. Give it a listen for yourself and decide which you prefer!

I had almost forgotten my favorite Skrillex track of all time, “Slats Slats Slats“, but the kind folks at the HQ of the Catalina Rhyme Mixers decided to remind me. I appreciate that and for that alone I would have blogged this mashup, but it’s also just a really good mashup. Enjoy!

Dial Tone (Skrillex, Dorrough, New Boyz, Prototype Raptor) – The Catalina Rhyme Mixers / Or from SoundCloud

Basic Physics dropped this track last week. It uses a lot of tracks that many mashup artists include but a couple of the songs really add to the unique flavor of the track. This one sounds a bit ominous at times but it is really nice to just sit back and listen to. Enjoy!

Island of Gold (Basic Physics Bootleg) – Thomas Gold (feat. Pendulum, R3HAB, & Swanky Tunes) / Or from SoundCloud

I love the odd humor that Bærs displays in the mashups they make. This mashup makes a lot of sense. Carly Rae and Justin are singing bout Maybes and Babies and when Adventure Club gets added, we suddenly have a bass heavy element. It’s excellent. Check it out.

Color Me Baby (Adventure Club // Carly Rae Jepsen // Justin Bieber) – Bærs / Or from SoundCloud

DOSVEC put together this track which, as he says, spans three decades. This made me realize that anyone born in 1999 can say they’ve lived in three decades. Weird. I can’t wait until 2020 when we can start referring to the decades easily again. Pronouncing 00s as the aughts never really caught on, and it feels wrong to call this decade the teens when we haven’t even hit thirteen yet. The twenties are going to be so much easier to refer to. This track is super chill though I would never have thought this came from three different decades. Give it a listen.

1979 Tipsy Kicks (J-Kwon & Foster The People vs Smashing Pumpkins (Slink Mix)) – DOSVEC / Or from SoundCloud

Sex Ray Vision put out an EP not that long ago. But he’s not sitting around smirking, no, now he’s making a mashup album while smirking. Here’s the first fruits of this labor. This is a massive mashup and I can’t wait for the album. Enjoy!

Surprise Greyhound [Swedish House Mafia, Busta Rhymes & Tiesto, The Wanted, Axwell & Ivan Gough, Dragonette] – Sex Ray Vision / Or from SoundCloud

DJ 21azy put out a short mashup EP entitled “Sleeping Through Sunday“. This track chills it down but fits beautifully and the production is awesome. The background hook really complements Weezy’s voice. Check it out!

Not So Hustler Muzik – DJ 21azy / Or Download the whole 4-Song EP “Sleeping Through Sunday”

Kyari Pyamu Pyamu really adds something cutesy to Major Lazer, but it fits in a really natural way, which is just strange. JAKAZiD has a SoundCloud account purely for silly mashups and remixes and this comes from that. It’s… surreal. Many thanks to my man Duncan for pointing it out to me. Give it a listen.

PONPONPON De Floor – きゃりーぱみゅぱみゅ vs. Major Lazer / Or from Mediafire

BONUS: The Jane Doze and Cash Cash put together this remix of Katy Perry and it is awesome! It uses bits of other Perry songs like “Teenage Dream” and “California Gurls” to add to the beat, thus qualifying as a mashup. Very well done and super catchy. Enjoy and have a good rest of the weekend!
