Suddenly Mashups. Everywhere. XXV

July 29, 2011

Happy Friday folks. TGIF, right? I’ve been falling more and more for Katy Perry lately. Maybe I’m just hopping on the party bus. But she’s like an (I’m not sure I want to say classier but maybe:) upgraded Ke$ha. Thus this mashup Friday, I’m going to post two “TGIF” mashups. Hope you don’t mind!

This song is just such a party anthem… “It’s a blacked out blur, but I’m pretty sure it rules.” Yeah that sounds about right. This first Katy mashup is enhanced with the presence of the electronic-ly awesome Mord Fustang. The early rave feel to his track brings out the high energy underground party feel that this pop song can feed off of. The Catalina Rhyme Mixers really hit a home run on this one. I’m so onboard. Check it out.

Now let’s take it down a notch. Remember Wugazi? This track has gotten a lot more acclaim than my favorite from two weeks ago. It is worthy of all the acclaim, though. The track is relaxed and matter of fact, bringing an almost mournful (but not too sad) sound to the classic Wu-Tang. Try it on for size!

Keeping with the lower key chill vibe, here’s the Hood Internet‘s latest mashup offering. I’m digging the old Genesis in this track. It really works with this rather monosyllabic rap(?) song. Together it’s a purposefully disjointed yet musically attractive track. Enjoy.

This track quickly pulls the mood of the last two songs into something more whimsical with the aid of Eminem. Sometimes it’s hard to keep up with the sheer amount of music that Mashup-Germany puts out, not that I’m complaining (it’s always great). This one might sound rather simple but look at everyone who’s in it: Lloyd ft Lil Wayne & Andre 3000 vs. Doobie Brothers vs. LaBelle vs. Eminem vs. Usher feat. Pitbull vs. David Guetta feat. Snoop Dogg vs. S Club 7 vs. Franz Ferdinand vs. Donna Summer. Crazy right? Check it out!

Jimi Needles is back with another fabulous mashup to share around. Enjoy a little Michael sound with a stronger voice. Definitely a party sound.

Ok, I know you were starting to worry that I wouldn’t feed you some Ellie Goulding, but fear not, for here it is. And this Ellie is prepared by the finest of DJs, the White Panda. The mood of this instrumental fits her vocals far more than many other DJs have arranged and is altogether satisfying. Enjoy.

Alright now let’s keep the pace going up. With this intense Beetroots track, DJ Y alias JY gives “Alors on danse” an amazing new urgency to it. I was bored of that song as soon as it was out. Now I’m impressed with this DJ’s work on it. Check it out!

I bet you thought that was it. But I have more to play for you, and I figured you wouldn’t complain about another sweet song added. Plus I already told you I had another “TGIF” for you. Dan Mei and Marc Johnce bring this track home in an amazingly smooth fashion, as usual. Have a great weekend everyone!
