Suddenly Mashups. Everywhere. XXII

July 1, 2011

Happy Friday people! I hope you’re all getting ready for an epic weekend. I can’t decide if my housesitting gig is going to tie me down this weekend or have no effect on my going out at all. I guess I’ll see. Time for some mashups

Let’s start off with a mashup that appreciates Fridays as much as we here at Paper Mash Music do. Marc Johnce is massively skilled at making smooth mashups and this one is no exception. Yet another Katy Perry mashup but c’mon, with Whitney? Aren’t you curious? I was. Also I trust in Marc to deliver quality music to my ears. You should too. Check it out.

Following that, a smooth feel good mashup for the summer from Dan Mei. Dan Mei has worked with Marc Johnce before so that establishes an idea of how smooth Mei is. They both are part of the Mashup Industries clique and regularly deliver stellar tracks. This one is almost sinfully cheerful. Enjoy!

Hurtful Sunshine (Katrina and the Waves vs Eric Hassle) – Dan Mei / Or from Mediafire

The prolific Mashup-Germany has delivered another surprisingly fun track. Featuring several old favorites (“Rhythm is a Dancer”, the numa numa song… etc), the track adds some excellent foreign pop/hip-hop. Overall another hit. Check it out.

Now I already love this Lupe track; riffing off of Modest Mouse is just plain fun. Finding a perfectly complementary song, the Hood Internet delivers a really enjoyable song. The middle synth line got annoying but everything else is fun and pleasant. Enjoy.

Doug Bogan is back with the dubstep mashups! A while ago, he was worried he’d alienated his pop fans and went back to only pop and hip hop mainstream tracks. On this one he runs all his mainstream artists (have another Katy track) and on the other he adds the rage and wobs that I’ve been missing (need a dose of Skrillex?). I hope this means that we’ll get more dubbed out mashups from him from now on. I suspect he’ll alternate but we’ll see. Check it out.

Kap Slap and 3lau are still working together and aren’t we all happy about that. My bud Matt Glickson (remember the logo?) reports he’ll likely be doing some artwork for Kap Slap and 3lau in the near future. What does that mean to us? More collabs between the two. Excellent. I still haven’t gotten tired of LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem”, which is good for this mashup. I wonder if I will. It’s so simple and still enjoyable. This mashup doesn’t rely on its synth line however, which is cool. Try it out.

And we’ll close with a mashup from Dylan Vasey. I don’t know much about this guy but I’m digging the track. Spotted over at MashupTown. I know most people are probably tired of “OMG” but since I’ve listened to the original a total of twice, I haven’t really gotten bored. Skip it if you are though. If you’re still a big Usher fan and like electronic dance music, you should check it out. Have a great weekend!

  1. I meant to say this on your big dubstep post a couple weeks ago, but I kept forgetting. Fortunately it’s relevant yet again:
I think “anything combining Katy Perry and dubstep (preferably really aggressive)” is my new favorite genre.
    I . . . I don’t even know who I am anymore.

    • Hahahaha!
That’s hilarious. I’m glad. I’ll keep an eye out for more.
We need to hang out. I’m here until next Friday (then back in 3 weeks)

      • Yes! Next Friday like the 8th, or like the 15th? In any case want to hang out sometime this week? Tell me a day you’re free and I’ll rally the troops as best I can.

      • the 8th. Tuesday or Wednesday would work

  2. That Katy Perry / Whitney Houston is shamefully catchy.

Totally digging “Full Circle” too. A good job matching vocal textures to the different portions of the Skrillex track.

    • Right? Yeah it’s fun. Are you in town this summer at all?
