Suddenly Mashups. Everywhere. XIII

April 15, 2011

Well it’s the the thirteenth week I’ve done this. Does that make this Friday the Thirteenth? Probably not but it sure is fun! Happy Friday all, and let me be the first to personally welcome you to the weekend!

So you may have spotted this earlier this week, but the White Panda dropped three full tracks and, let me tell you, they are good. I’m dishing them out piecemeal but you can grab them earlier for yourself here. This satisfies every bone in my techno smooth synth body. I’m not sure how much that means. But it is so slick. Such great background for this used and possibly overused rap. Enjoy!

I was kind of convinced that I already posted this but numerous searches seem to have proved me wrong. Anyways, the Hood Internet nailed this one. Cold. They turned Crystal Castles into a killer beat and put Rihanna on top, where she likes to be. This track is probably my favorite version of “Rude Boy”. The others are just too slow. Enjoy!

Here’s one I hadn’t heard before! I found it over at Mashup Town. Enjoyable. Pop filled. And it has a very fun time putting the progression of “Time of My Life” into it’s modern version [Fast Foot vs. Black Eyed Peas vs. Bill Medley vs. Usher feat. Will.I.Am]. Very fun. Check it out.

The Time For Nasty Girls – Jimmy Klok / Or from HulkShare

From the same post I found this lovely chill mashup. Now we all know what the most used song is in mashup history right? “Wonderwall” by Oasis. The chord progression that can go with just about any other song ever makes it so desired (see the Pachelbel Rant for more information). But this is just clever. It doesn’t use the chord progression. In fact it alters it and uses very different pieces of it. And combines it with Beastie Boys. Well done, sir. Well done.

And now for something completely different. DJ Schmolli is a dude. This is self evident. But he has certainly gone out on a limb with this one. Swing dance with Rage Against the Machine? Crazy right? Right. Crazy like a fox. This track takes some listening to, but it is gold. Listen to it the whole way through before judgment!

Here’s an old one. You can tell because it’s back when Datahowler was going by Objektiv One. I thought I’d continue the jazzy atmosphere with this one. It’s a jazz version of “Tik Tok”. And it’s perfect. Enjoy!

And to finish off, I’d like to introduce you to my friend Greg Schram. He likes jazz, comedy, and long walks on the beach. He’s taken the classic “Roxanne” and worked it into a jazzy Jamiroquai song with a little bonus of Dido. This track is smooth, just the way I like my smoothness. I can’t wait to see where he will go. You?

  1. That last one is a real gem! The first two in the post are nice too–solid beats, etc. The “In the Mood for Some Killing” one annoyed me though. It was a good idea, and I can see why he thought of it, since the rhythms fit so nicely in places, but having it just be Zack de la Rocha’s voice over that track with no other music brought in . . . it’s just barely a mashup to my ear. Just a few words over another piece of music. It needed more, I think.
But yeah that one with Roxanne is really nicely woven together.

    • Yeah… I gotcha. But yeah, Greg is good
