Suddenly Mashups. Everywhere. XII

April 8, 2011

Happy Friday! Finally! The week after break is always a long and tedious week. I’ve fallen behind, but this post should help me catch up. There are quite a few mashups that came out recently that I have been meaning to post. Here they are.

First, a new full track off of the White Panda‘s album, Pandamonium. This track may have been my favorite track on the album, and here it is in its full glory. They ironed out the issues I had with the chorus and now it’s all pretty and sunshine! See?

Next up, a new track from Doug Bogan. This track is full on pop. Doug says: “So I was thinking about how far afield I (may have seemed to have) strayed with some of my recent dubstep remixes, and went back to the musical drawing board for reconsideration. Don’t want to scare people off with music, you know.” While I don’t mind the dubstep, I know that some people do and I understand the idea behind this track. Definitely pop all the way across the board. Take a listen.

Here’s the last brand new one I got for you. The Friendly Giant put out another one! I know right? The dude is nothing if not prolific. TFG says: “I’m in Hawaii for Spring Break, and I put this new song together on the plane ride over. It’s supposed to be a new take on an overplayed song. I tried to make something for when you’re relaxing and just want a chill song to listen to, and hopefully I was able to do that.” This is definitely chiller than the original and chiller than a lot of his previous mashups. I like it. Check it out.

Ok this next one is not new per se, but it is new to me, and ever since I heard it I’ve been wandering around with it on repeat. Let me emphasize this. This song is awesome. I introduced you to D.veloped the other day with his awesome mashup “Bring Em Home”. Browsing his past music I came across this one. This has a ton of different pop songs that it cycles through but it has one amazing drop at the 1:30 mark where it transitions from Taylor Swift to Jay Sean and Skrillex. Yes! So good. And it fills my Skrillex requirement. Check this out and don’t judge until after the 1:30 mark. It’s good before that but that drop makes it special.

Skrill Ex-Friends With Benefits – D.veloped / Or from Mediafire

Next up is an old mashup that I’ve been meaning to post for ages. This was one of my favorites awhile ago. The Reborn Identity is still one of better mashup sets out there. I’ve seen the Kooks in concert and that makes this that much more charming. it matches up perfectly with “In For the Kill” but in a completely different way than just about any other mashup or remix of it I’ve ever heard. It’s way more whimsical and less ominous or sparse than other mixes. I love it. Check it out.

In For the Kooks – La Roux vs. The Kooks / Or from Mediafire

This one’s also pretty old. I think this is the mashup that got me interested in the Hood Internet. It’s very slick. While it’s a beat for a rap song, it is something special. It has that indie charm. Check it out.

Save Me Concubine (Ghostface Killah vs. Beirut) – the Hood Internet / Or from Mediafire

I forgot! Another new one. Xaphoon Jones put out his second mixtape and it’s pretty sweet. This is the best song on the tape. I know some of you are saying, “I Want You Back” is over remixed. But don’t let that prejudice you. This track is unbelievably well done. Xaphoon Jones is slick as usual. Enjoy it and have a good weekend!
