Fear Not the Dubstep VI

March 31, 2011

Well it’s Wednesday as I write this but I’m trying to keep this week on schedule, which is difficult as it’s Spring Break. I’ll be riding the MegaBus again tomorrow, so I’m writing this now and I’ll post it in the morning. This week I got some house as well as the normal dubstep, but it’s all good so check it out.

This song is probably going to attract dubstep producers for quite some time. Which I’m fine with, it makes for some fun tracks. Enjoy the bass on this one. (via the Burning Ear)

Bass Down Low (feat. Dev) (Proper Villains Remix) – the Cataracs / Or from Mediafire

Alright, now lets bring it down a notch. Anyone remember this track? It’s the one that builds and builds and builds until the dubstep just must break through. It’s a wonderful trance remix otherwise. Perfect for her voice. Check it out if you haven’t before.

In For the Kill (Last Japan Skream ReEdit) – La Roux / Or from Mediafire

Here’s that progressive house I promised you. And yes, yet another Mike Posner remix. Need I say anything more? It’s good. Try it.

Please Don’t Go (Dave Edwards Remix) – Mike Posner / Or from Mediafire

Not enough filth for you? Here’s a large helping. Brought to you by the producer Vaski, you know this track has got some serious bass to it. Spotted this one and the next one on Decently Dope. Enjoy.

Blackout – Vaski / Or from Mediafire

This one is fun. I love it when dubstep samples dialogue. Especially when it’s overdramatic dialogue about a werewolf. How great is that? Awesome.

The Werewolf (Dubstep Mix) – Figure / Or from Mediafire

I spotted this one, rather appropriately in Earmilk’s Spring Break “Wobble Wednesday” post. And I approve so much. The vocals are just pretty and the dubstep builds from a gentle beginning to throbbing peak. Check it out.

Sunlight (Adventure Club Dubstep Remix) – Diana Vickers / Or from Mediafire

And to finish the post off, my favorite of the bunch. This song is made in the style of the last song but it’s just a little more enticing. The vocals are just as pretty in this song, but they have a better hook. Tell me if you agree. Credit to Earmilk again on this one.

Teenage Crime (Trumpdisco Remix) – Adrian Lux / Or from Mediafire

Words I Never Said (ft Skylar Grey) [Sound Remedy Remix] – Lupe Fiasco

March 30, 2011

So I’m getting over being sick right now, which I lay claim to as an excuse in keeping this short. I can’t post this in tomorrow’s dubstep post because as much as the opening begs for a dubstep beat drop, that drop never comes. Instead the Sound Remedy builds it into a beautiful seven minute long, house influenced, 8-bit augmented, practically trance remix of Skylar Grey’s vocals. It’s gorgeous. I saw it first on the Music Ninja. Check it out.

Mash Mob – Mashup-Germany

March 30, 2011

It’s out! Tomorrow is the last day of March but I think it appropriate that Mashup-Germany conclude March Mashup Madness with this mega volume of mashups. Germany’s Ben Stilller has provided us with volume five of his works today. He combines over 200 songs into 36 mashups. Usually this is the point where I tell you that I have to listen to the album before I post some of the songs. However I’ve been posting teasers all month from this album without download links. So I will put up all the songs I posted before, in downloadable formats. Sadly the internet is still quite slow so it will be awhile. I recommend that in the meantime, you download this album!

Download from MegaUpload
You can find alternate download links here.

Street Hawk Pt. II

March 29, 2011

Remember Futurecop!? Wow it’s hard to write about a band that ends in an exclamation point. I posted “Tonite’s Hero” awhile ago and mentioned that on March 29th they were dropping a EP. So I’ve been faithfully waiting, but today instead of an EP they gave out this announcement:

Big News! We are thrilled to announce a pending label partner, so we have decided to push back the release of our album.

It was one of the sadder things I’ve ever read, but they gave me something to keep me going, a new single. Here it is. It’s pretty different from “Tonite’s Hero”. For one, it has no rap in it which I really liked in the other song. This song emphasizes the retro dance feeling from the last song. The vocals are good but get rather repetitive. Oh well. It’s still good. And I’m glad they got a label. Check out the new track and rest assured that I will post on the EP whenever and hover it does appear.

UPDATE: I was contacted by Shawn Ward aka FM Attack. He informs me that this song is “a copyright infringement in dispute and [that] they did not write the song or have rights to it”. So I have removed this track. I am leaving up Starworshipper because it sounded like that song is not in contention. If it, too, is currently receiving legal action, please notify me.
Street Hawk Pt. II – Futurecop! / Or from Mediafire

BONUS: Futurecop! had a remix contest of one of their songs “Starworshipper” and said they would include their favorite remix on their EP. Since the EP isn’t here yet, I don’t know who won, but here’s the original of “Starworshipper”. This is very similar to the song above, but in my opinion much better, and not just because it has some rap in it. Enjoy.

Starworshipper – Futurecop! / Or from Mediafire

UPDATE: For some reason the player for “Starworshipper” has been glitching (maybe it’s my intermittent internet?) As far as I can tell the file itself is unchanged. If it works for you, well great, if not, then download it from Mediafire to hear it with out the annoying restart a minute in. Works fine in Chrome though.

Moment 4 Leonora – the Hood Internet

March 28, 2011

It’s still March Mashup Madness for a few more days and I’m going to make sure you get enough mashups to make you remember it. I haven’t heard a new Hood Internet mashup in ages that I really liked. But this one is nice. Jazzy piano meets Nicki. And it just fits together. I’m a huge Nicki Minaj fan and this gives her song a very chill reboot. Check it out.

Introducing PaperMashMicro

March 26, 2011

I’ve been mulling this idea over for a while now and I’ve decided to move forward today. I’ve been thinking of extending Paper Mash into microblogging. There are many tracks that I come across and listen to every day that don’t make the cut onto the website. Some of them I just post a better track by the same artist, others have not given me permission to post, and still others I just don’t have the focus to write about. So I have made a Twitter account where I just post links to all the good music I find, be they on blogs, SoundCloud, or YouTube. So if you’re looking for more music, you should follow @PaperMashMicro or visit the new page displaying these tweets. Have a good weekend all!

What You Need (Vin Sol & Charles McCloud Remix) – The Weeknd

March 26, 2011

Well I’m practically done catching up now, despite the Internet at my house being intermittent. Here’s a sweet email submission from Charles McCloud and Vin Sol. They must have seen that I was geeking out over the Weeknd on Monday. Sol and McCloud have put together a very trance-y and dreamlike remix to one of the Weeknd’s songs. And it is sweet. Here is their SoundCloud post as I am not sure if they have a joint page anywhere. Enjoy it.
