Cheated (DOSVEC Mashup) – Mike Posner vs Wolfgang Gartner

February 12, 2011

My favorite series on Cause Equals Time is their Friday Remixes. They just throw a ton of remixes up on a post for general consumption, generally with little to no information on where they came from, but they tend to have a gem or two every week. This week’s post brings me this fun mashup I have here for you. First off, I like Mike Posner. He makes some very mainstream music yet remains very accessible to the blagosphere, throwing bones like the Boson dubstep remix of “Cooler Than Me” to us. Now he didn’t have a hand in making this mashup, all credit goes to the talented DOSVEC, but it is a very fun track. The nature of Wolfgang Gartner’s music is that it makes any mashup sound more like a remix than a mashup. His techno genre is stellar but makes for a good instrumental and is often overlooked in these sorts of songs. The mashup itself starts out fairly standard, with a dynamic build to a strong beat drop and Posner’s lyrics begin. For awhile it’s a very enjoyable remix, but around the 4:17 mark, Gartner’s track takes the wheel, and despite Posner’s vocals continuing the techno is far more interesting and really fresh and enjoyable. Take a listen and tell me what you think.
